A job at the Squire Jehegan Outreach Center is more than a role—it is an opportunity to contribute to real change.

For more than 40 years, the Squire Jehegan Outreach Center has been a vital part of Northwest Arkansas, operating as the community development arm of St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Fayetteville. Originally focused on small-scale food assistance, the center has expanded its reach dramatically. Today, it distributes more than 1,300 food boxes every week and continues to grow its impact through partnerships, volunteer support and a strong team of dedicated staff.

As part of one of the most active church-based outreach organizations in the region, the Squire Center plays a central role in addressing food insecurity, offering essential items like coats and hygiene supplies, and providing direct support to underserved communities. The organization blends its faith-based mission with practical, hands-on community development work. That balance has made it a trusted hub for residents in need and a meaningful place to build a career in service.

A job at the Squire Jehegan Outreach Center is more than a role—it is an opportunity to contribute to real change. Employees describe the environment as supportive, mission-driven and deeply collaborative. Whether you are in the food pantry helping with daily operations, working behind the scenes on grants and development, or driving deliveries to rural families, every team member plays a role in reducing food insecurity across Northwest Arkansas.

The Squire Center frequently partners with AmeriCorps to offer training and career pathways through VISTA service placements. These opportunities allow emerging professionals to gain real-world experience, receive job training and take on meaningful leadership roles within community health. Many former VISTAs go on to secure permanent roles in public service, including positions at the Squire Center itself. For example, Wannlitha Anderson, who originally served as an AmeriCorps VISTA, now works as the operations coordinator and community health worker at the center. Completion of a term with AmeriCorps can also open access to exclusive federal job opportunities and education benefits, helping participants build strong foundations for future careers.

Current hiring needs at the Squire Center include positions in accounting, nonprofit development and transportation logistics. The center is especially seeking delivery drivers to help reach rural residents who may not have reliable access to food assistance.

In addition to training and professional development, the organization offers paid time off, medical benefits for contracted staff and a workplace culture rooted in mutual respect, community care and personal growth. Working here means joining a team committed to creating sustainable solutions for some of the region’s most pressing challenges.
