Career and workforce development will be the topic of the Northwest Arkansas Council’s December Onward Ozarks, to be held virtually at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1.

The availability of skilled talent (and the ability to attract more) is the top factor for businesses today as they determine where to invest. Developing talent starts early and involves collaboration with parents, educators, businesses, and community and state leaders. The Northwest Arkansas Council works to ensure that there are sufficient education and training opportunities available to support our workforce. Northwest Arkansas has nearly 10,000 open jobs seeking a wide range of skills. It is often necessary for the local workforce to acquire new expertise to fill many of these jobs.

Hear from a panel of industry leaders who will discuss workforce development and training opportunities in Northwest Arkansas.

Panelists include:

Megan Bolinder, Ph.D., Dean of Workforce and Economic Development, NorthWest Arkansas Community College

Tara Dryer, Senior Managing Director, University of Arkansas Global Campus

Carol Silva Moralez, President & CEO, Upskill NWA

Joe Rollins, Workforce Development Director, Northwest Arkansas Council

Onward Ozarks is a quarterly speaker series created by the Council to provide organizations, companies and individuals a platform to share news, events and other information with a regional audience.

Randy Wilburn, founder and host of the popular “I Am Northwest Arkansas” podcast, serves as series host and moderator.
